Luggage Leather On Leather of all kinds it makes a BEAUTIFUL stitch ! Layers of Commercial Carpet REAL Weatherproof Canvas is hard to sew on any machine. This machine make a very nice and tight stitch on it. Ideal for sun protection roofs as well as any other kind of roof material. I have to write ''Real Weatherproof Canvas''' because some sellers are using very soft materials trying you to believe they are sewing on real canvas.... This real (expensive) Weatherproof Canvas is really hard to sew on any machine. Its hard to get a very straight line because the material fibers are too dense. Weatherproof say it all.. Very Thick Upholstery Material is VERY easy to sew ! Tent Making Canvas This machine can sew also on Leather with Fur on it like Fox, Coyotte, etc. The stitch is wonderful ! GREAT for general, auto and marine upholstery like car & boat seats, airplane seats, boat covers, chairs and couch recovering. Layers of soft leather are easy to sew with a size 18 leather needle. By sewing anything thicker than usual, ALWAYS turn the hand wheel (towards you) so the needle goes completely DOWN before starting with the foot pedal. This will ensure nice and even stitches and will avoid needle breaking and needle plate damage. This machine accepts the commercial nylon thread size 69. If you need a weatherproof thread which will resist to the sun exposure for sunbrella, boat covers, etc., I suggest you the Coats D-64 Upholstery nylon thread. It is available worldwide in any fabric store and serious sewing shops. This machine sews also with REGULAR THREAD in delicate fabrics like Chiffon, Silk, Cotton, Tulle, Organza, to lighter materials (Crepe de Chine, Faille, Muslin, Batiste, Percale, Pique, Felt, Taffeta, Satin & more. On medium to heavier materials, it will sew Velvet, Velveteen, Corduroy, Gabardine, Serge, Fleece, etc. No problem on stiffer fabrics like Drapery Fabric, Linen, Suiting, Burlap, Poplin Denim, Ticking and Canvas. All these samples used to set up this machine are included ! I use a wide variety of samples to set up my machines. I recommend anyone buying a machine to be assured it has been tested in at least 8 different type of materials. This way chances are the machine will sew easily most of your projects. This machine WILL NOT sew horse saddles, knife sheaths (hard and very dense vegetable tanned leather), hard tooling leather, dogs collars or other hard to pierce things: for this you need a post bed machine. It WILL NOT sew anything exceeding 5/16'' inch thick. The space under the foot is 5/16" maximum !!! Straight and ZIGZAG Lockstitch Powerful rebuilt 1.5 Amp Motor (120V Canada & U.S.A.)
