Classic Bernina 1230 Sewing Machine -Excellent NO RES! Like New Condition - Complete - A Great Machine! Click on photos to enlarge! NO RESERVE LISTING STARTING AT $9.95! No Buy It Now offers! See my guide to Buying a Bernina on eBay - http://search.reviews.ebay.com/members/judysue I ship sewing machines only within the US and Canada . . . no overseas bidders please Here is a Bernina 1230, considered by many one of the best Bernina has ever made! This is easily one of the nicest 1130s or 1230s I have ever offered for sale . . . almost like new! Not a scratch or nick anywhere that I could find. Very clean! And hardly any yellowing to the side panel, so it probably was not exposed to the light very much. Obviously used very lightly. And complete with all its original accessories . . . if you are looking for an 1130, take a close look at this one! Also one of the easiest machines to use, you hardly need to refer to the manual to figure it out . . . just choose a stitch and push the button! The 1130 was the first fully electronic machine Bernina made in the late 1980s, and the 1230 followed around 1992, adding more stitches, including an alphabet, and more capabilities. The two machines are very similar in look and reliability, but the 1230 does more than the 1130. It is easy to use, able to sew through any fabric with ease, solid metal construction, and very dependable . . . a real winner! This one is in perfect running condition, complete with all its original accessories. It has just been cleaned and serviced, and I also tested it and it sewed beautifully. It is guaranteed to arrive in perfect running condition or return it for a full refund or repair. The stitch quality of the 1230 is excellent, and the machine is quiet and smooth. If you are looking for a high quality machine for either quilting or general sewing, this is it! All the vintage Bernina "30s" - the 830, 930, 1030, 1130, and 1230 - hold their values very well and are considered by many to be some of the best machines ever produced by Bernina or any other manufacturer. There is even a group on Yahoo devoted just to the Bernina "30-somethings"! This is an electronic machine with numerous stitches, including many practical and embroidery stitches, a foot control that also controls the needle up/down, the wonderful Bernina knee control that lifts the presser foot and lowers the feed dogs, infinitely variable stitch length and width (5.5 mm), the ability to combine stitches, memory for up to 30 stitches, and much more! You can push a button to make the needle end down in the fabric, and you can also move the needle up or down by tapping your heel on the foot control. It has a built-in thread cutter and a handy button to reverse stitching. The cords retract into the machine and the foot control, a nice feature I wish they still had on the newer machines. It is very easy to change stitches . . . just push a button and the machine will make the appropriate changes in stitch length and width, etc. and tell you which foot to use (but you can always override the basic settings)! It also comes with a built-in buttonhole maker, a feature Berninas have long been known for, as well as an automatic buttonhole foot. The feed dogs drop with the turn of a dial for free-motion work. All the important accessories are still with this machine. Even the little needle threader that slides into the side of the machine is still there. Be careful when you look at some listings of older machines on eBay . . . there may be important parts like the extension table, foot control, manual, or accessories missing, and the description doesn't always point this out! It is very difficult and expensive to find a replacement extension table or the retractable foot control if they are missing. These are the presser feet that are with this machine: 0 - general foot for straight stitch and zig-zag 1 - reverse pattern foot 2 - Overlock foot 3 - Buttonhole foot 4 - Zipper foot 5 - Blind stitch foot (for edge stitching and hemming) 6 - Embroidery foot (for satin and decorative stitches) 7 - Tailor tacking foot (not in photo, but will be added) 8 - Jeans foot 9 - Darning foot (also for free-motion quilting!) Included is the hard slip-on case with compartments for the extension table, knee lift, and foot control. The original "My Bernina Guide" is also with it. There is a seam guide which screws onto the back of feet, cleaning brush, oil, seam ripper, screwdriver, and special screwdriver for changing needles and bulbs. I love the way everything fits neatly into its place in the carrying case! The carrying case is also in excellent condition. There are 32 stitches altogether. . . a nice selection of 12 practical and 20 decorative stitches. (There is also a basic alphabet and numbers.) I've photographed the panels with the stitch buttons to give you an idea of what is there. In his book "The Sewing Machine Guide: Tips on Choosing, Buying, and Refurbishing," John Giordano writes "Any Swiss-made Bernina is a treasure worth keeping, and that is why they are difficult to find on the secondhand market. If you happen to find one for sale and it meets your sewing needs, snap it up. Quilters go bonkers for these machines." (By the way, even though it is several years old, this book is still worth its price if you need help choosing a sewing machine!) You will pay the cost of UPS ground shipping to your zip code (use eBay's shipping calculator to see this). Sorry, sales only to the United States and Canada. In my opinion and that of many other quilters, Berninas are the best sewing machines you can buy. (I have been a Bernina devotee for more than 25 years, now own a 630, but had owned an 1130 for nearly 20 years, so I know them well!) Berninas are manufactured in Switzerland.
